After creating a site, users can add both monitored and non-monitored components.

Add Component(s)

1. While on the Config page, click ADD COMPONENT in the Search Browse Pane. If there are already components listed, expand the site and choose where in the site hierarchy to add the new component.  Clicking to add a component will add a component under the selected entity.  For example, select a meter and click ADD COMPONENT beneath it to add an inverter nested beneath the meter. As shown below, select the site to add a top level meter.

2. Enter information about the component being monitored. Fields marked with a red asterisk are required. See the Basic Info tab for more information on these fields.

Note: Monitored components require a Node ID in a specific format. Click the i button next to the Node ID field for more information.

Note: You cannot change a Component Type after adding a component.

3. Once the component's information is complete and accurate, select "Add New Component" and continue to the remaining setup tabs.

Basic Info

Once you have initially saved a new component the entered information will be editable under the Basic Info tab and the remaining tabs will become visible.

  • Component Type: the device, whether a PV meter, inverter, or PV array

  • Component Name: This name appears in the Site Hierarchy on the search-browse pane.

  • Node ID: Identify the unit being monitored, allowing it to display information across your monitoring platform; select the i button for more information about this field.

  • OEM: for Meter, Inverter and PV array components.

Note: You cannot change a Component Type after adding a component. If incorrect, the component must be deleted and recreated.

Tags

Add additional component-related information to this section, which is searchable using the Search-Browse Pane. Tags are useful in order to create groups based on common text.

Generation Settings

Multiplier: this value multiplies all future data by a factor; select the i button for more information.  This is most typically used for systems installed incorrectly, requiring data to be updated, but otherwise can be kept at the default of 1.

Alert Settings

Modify alert thresholds for a component in this section.

Enable Alerts

Select this check-box to enable alert generation.

Note: Alert settings are not editable while alerts are disabled. When alerts are disabled or a component is deleted, all open alerts for this component will be closed.

System Disconnect

  • Enable System Disconnect Alert?: toggle to enable or disable system disconnect alerts for this component. If this toggle is disabled, any open system disconnect alerts for this component will be closed.

  • System Disconnect Threshold: set how many hours after the component stops communicating to trigger an alert. A system disconnect alert will close immediately after the component resumes communicating successfully with our servers.

  • Enable System Disconnect Nighttime Filter: Disconnect periods during "night" time will be ignored and no alert will be opened or closed during that time. This is based on the detected system location. Latitude, longitude and timezone are required. If any of them are missing we will close any open alerts and stop processing system disconnect alerts till all the information is available.

  • System Disconnect Buffer: add a buffer period after sunrise and before sunset to ignore disconnect conditions. This reduces false positives caused by turn-on or turn-off of the PV system. Will default to 0 if missing.

Performance Index

See the Performance Index article for more information.

Zero Generation

  • Zero Generation Enabled?: toggle to enable or disable zero generation alerts for this component. If this toggle is disabled, any open zero generation alerts for this component will be closed.

  • Zero Generation Threshold: threshold for daylight hours after which our system will trigger a zero generation alert. Daylight hours are determined by sunrise and sunset for the site location minus buffer hours. "Zero" is when interval energy for an individual data packet is less 0.01 kWh.

  • Zero Generation Buffer: add a buffer period after sunrise and before sunset to ignore zero generation conditions. This reduces false positives caused by turn-on or turn-off of the PV system.
